Is Clarence Thomas Compromised?

The Franklin Scandal is a book about child abuse, political corruption, and compromised politicians, and Clarence Thomas may fall into the latter category.

Shortly after Lawrence's King's problems started hitting the papers, GOP high rollers ran from King like rats fleeing a sinking ship, but, surprisingly, Clarence Thomas didn't disavow knowing King, but, rather, called King's legal travails "unfortunate." Though Thomas' name appears on the invitation list of a 1987 party hosted by King in DC, he said he first met King in 1988 at the New Orleans GOP Convention. I've attached a PDF of the article quoting Clarence Thomas and also of King's 1987 Christmas party guest list.

Clarence Thomas' 1991 appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that decided his fate as a Supreme Court Justice held millions of Americans spellbound before their televisions. Law professor Anita Hill had been a subordinate of Thomas when he headed the Equal Opportunity Commission, and Hill testified that Thomas was lewd, talked of bestiality, and kept abreast of porno stars--Thomas called the proceedings a "high-tech lynching" and categorically denied Hill's allegations.

The hearing was ultimately a he said she said affair and Thomas would become a Supreme Court Justice, but very few Americans were aware of the fact that a second female subordinate of Thomas' had been subpoenaed to appear before the hearing who would have corroborated Anita Hill--Angela Wright had been employed by the Equal Opportunity Commission during Thomas' reign as Chairman and she too alleged lewd conduct and sexual harassment by Thomas.

Though Wright had flown from North Carolina to the Capitol to testify in front of the hearing, the Senate Judiciary Committee never called her. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Joseph Biden said Wright's subpoena was lifted, because of the wishes of Wright and her attorney. Both Wright and her attorney would assert that Biden was lying--Wright was ready, willing, and able to testify.

Because Biden and the Senate Judiciary Committee didn't call Wright to testify, the hearing came down to Thomas' word against Hill's, and Thomas subsequently eked out a razor thin majority in the US Senate--52 versus 48--to be confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice. However, if Biden had called Wright to testify, it's certainly within the realm of probability that the Senate wouldn't have confirmed Thomas. A book on Thomas, Strange Justice: The Selling of Clarence Thomas, supported Hill's allegations that he had a penchant for lascivious pornography, and several women have since come forward to corroborate Hill's other allegations. (I've attached a Word document that includes a Washington Post article pertaining to Biden's lifting Wright's subpoena and also an article on Strange Justice.)

Indeed, Thomas did admit to knowing King, but he said they met at the GOP's 1988 New Orleans convention, even though Thomas' name shows up on the guest list of King's 1987 Christmas party in DC. If Thomas attended King's Christmas party, then he told a flat out lie about meeting King in 1988. If Thomas was, in fact, compromised, it stands to reason that he would lie about his relationship with King. I find it rather interesting that Thomas didn't completely disavow knowing King, so, perhaps, the two had a relationship that Thomas felt needed damage control with a lie?

If Clarence Thomas has an interest in bestiality and/or lascivious pornography, his preferences would make him susceptible to being compromised and controlled, and, unfortunately, as a Supreme Court Justice, Thomas has made several decisions that impact every American. He voted to stop the counting of votes in Florida during the 2000 presidential election--delivering George W. Bush to the White House--and had the vote count continued Gore most likely would have taken the White House. Thomas recently voted for the repeal of the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002, which prevented corporations from financing broadcast, cable or satellite-delivered "electioneering communications" within 30 days of a federal election. Paul S. Ryan, FEC program director and associate legal counsel for the Campaign Legal Center, excoriated the decision. "Today the Supreme Court majority declared that corporate speech trumps the rights of American voters to government free of corporate corruption. The courts opinion is the most radical in the Supreme Court's history in the area of campaign finance law. The Roberts' court has abandoned all judicial restraint and respect for precedent by overturning more than 50 years of settled law."

It's troubling to think that Americans might have a Supreme Court Justice who is potentially compromised and voting for decisions that may undermine democracy, but what's up with "liberal" Joseph Biden allowing "conservative" Clarence Thomas to skip into the Supreme Court? He lifted Angela Wright's subpoena, and, according to Wright and her lawyer, lied about his motives. Common sense dictates that the Democrats should have been extremely disturbed about Biden's actions, because now they are stuck with Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court Justice, but they nonetheless rewarded Biden with a nod to become Obama's vice president. Something really stinks here.
